Recent 2017 Events
3/20/17: We had a conference call with Senator Burr’s office to discuss appropriations, a Maternal and Child Health/nutrition letter, and block grants affecting Medicaid and SNAP.
3/19/17: Jalileh hosted a presentation at the Cameron Village Library on the Earned Income Tax Credit and led people to write letters to their Members of Congress.
3/15/17: We met for an Education & Action meeting to learn more about media opportunities, how to frame the messaging, how to locate news outlets, and take steps to write a Letter to the Editor
3/11/17: We dialed in for the National Webinar/Calls at Lindsay’s House/
U.S. Poverty Campaigns National Grassroots Webinar/Call at 12pm focused on Medicaid
Global Campaigns National Grassroots at 1:30pm focused on shares from 4 RESULTS advocates who recently went to Zambia, including RESULTS Raleigh group leader Lindsay
3/07/17: Marielle went to D.C. and NC advocates dialed in to support her in virtual lobby meetings about global appropriations with the offices of Senator Burr and Senator Tillis.
2/26/17: We attended Zuccotti Park, a production by the justice theater project. We attended this musical about the human side of economics, had a booth, and Lindsay spoke before one of the performances about advocacy and the roles citizens can play in democracy. The play ran from February 10 – 26, 2017 at Umstead Park United Church of Christ in Raleigh.

12/14/16: Group Education & Action Potluck Meeting at Lindsay’s House. Book Club to hear Sam Daley-Harris, founder of RESULTS, as he shared what’s needed to create the political will to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty. He shared lessons outlined in his book, Reclaiming Our Democracy, and from his work with the Center for Citizen Empowerment and Transformation.
